Creating an increased understanding of the cultural identity and the cultural heritage in the MNR, through cultural events supporting other actions in the project and bringing people together,

A number of events, a number of cultural workers being engaged in the activities, number of spectators, listeners (the size of audiences), reports in media on cultural activities
Outputs and their quantifications:
Exhibitions, theatre production, cultural heritage and archaeology seminar, seminar on design etc. - 8 different cultural events during 2004-2007.

1) "Mid Nordic Days 2006-2007" -informationtour about Mittnorden during 2006-2007.

2) Turists in museum 14-16/6/2007 Savonlinna
This event was arranged in the middle of June 2007 at the forestmuseum of Savonlinna, related with the annual forestdays -event there.

3) ArkeologiSymposium 14-16/6/2007 Saarijärvi
The event was held in the middle of June in Saarijärvi, and the planning& program was made in cooperation with eg. the university of Jyväskylä and local museumassociation (Keski-Suomen Museoyhdistys). The main theme was rockart in the MidNordic Region, but also other relevant themes was brought up.
The symposium was open for all, but one important target group was teachers in preliminary schools. More information.

4) Folk music on a tour April 2007
The idea was to create a "roadshow" for young musicians from each country, under a professionell guidance. The group toured round the MidNordic Region for a couple of weeks during spring 2007. The group played and told about the traditions in folk music in the region and thus gave a taste of the common cultural heritance.

5) Visual arts in Midnorden Trondheim, august-september 2006
In this project 9 artists from the region were invited to work together in a project that included both workshops and exhibitions.
The project was arranged in Klæbu municipality in Norway, near Trondheim on 25/8-3/9/2006. The name of the project "Æ Ø Å" symbolises the nordic cooperation and the days were appreciated by all the artists and other visitors.

6) "Green" youththeater spring 2006
The project The Nordic Green Theatre was ended with Mid Nordic Theatre festival that was held 26.05.06 - 28.05.06 in Verdal and Levanger, Norway.
During the winter five theatre groups had been recruited to the project.
3 groups from Finland, 1 from Sweden and 1 from Norway.
Only two of these were linked to a public school, the others were free groups.
The author of the play visited the groups in Finland during January.
Some of the groups had shown their performance before the festival and some afterwards.

- Korsholms ungdomsteater, Österbotten
- Teaterföreningen Kurpitsa, Södra Österbotten
- Kurikan Yhteiskoulu, Södra Österbotten
The festival was located to the new cultural centre in Verdal, Tindved Kulturhage and it was carried out in cooperation with the administration of Tindved Teater. This theatre is established during the last years and is the only institution educating actors outside Oslo
The program was built on the idea that everyone should get the possibility to join all performances based on the synopsis called “The Indian forest".
In addition to this they were all participating different workshops lead by the instructors at Tindved Teater.
To give the participants knowledge about the cultural heritage in Trøndelag they were all taking part in a sea voyage on Trondheimsfjorden by an old sailing ship, “Jekta Pauline."
The final part of the festival was located to Stiklestad Nasjonale Kultursenter to meet with the national and regional history including the St. Olav culture.

7) Midnordic Artistforum 14-16 Oktober 2005 Vasa
The Mid Nordic Forum was performed in Vasa, Finland 14-15. October 2005, and presented the Mid Nordic Audition, a seminar for festival producers, organisers and artists from all the 8 Mid Nordic regions.
Several items were discussed, eg. optimal size, public financial support, regional creativity, festival co-operation and the international values for regional musicians.
Each festival was presented on its own and way.
The artists/musicians gave concerts and some individual performances presenting a wide cultural diversity in the mid nordic cultural heritage.
Svenska Österbottens Förbund and Österbottens förbund were operating partners.
8) Grafic design in MidNordic Region - exhibition and seminar 11/2005-02/2006 Sundsvall
“Design and art" - a large and broad exhibition with the theme “Graphic design in focus"!
At Sundsvall´s museum started 19. Nov 2005 and ended 4 Feb. 2006.
Showing ways of marketing high quality cultural events, institutions and heritages in the MNR with good graphic design also showed the cultural identity of each region.
A large number of bureaus and graphic designers in MNR had sent their best works to a MN jury for assessment.
One prizewinner from each country was the result:

* Susanne Ekelund at PoP Kommunikation, Sundsvall and
* Jussi Jäppinen, Jyyäskylä.
Some parts of the exhibitions were shown in Jämtland after closing in Sundsvall.
A conference “Graphic design I focus" was held 2-3 February at Mid Sweden University with 4 lecturers from MNR, the university and from national level in Sweden as well as a prof. from New Zealand. The conference was a cooperation between Mid Sweden University, the Photo museum, the project Design in Västernorrland and the County Council of Västernorrland. At the evening programme at the Photo museum colleagues could meet and get together.
The event and the Mid Nordic cultural work was known at the national design board Svensk Form and the exhibition was awarded for the Prize of 2005 Year of Design in Sweden.
